Portland Trip #1

On Sarurday, October twenty-fifth, Blair and I finally got to visit Beaverton together for the first time since the wedding. The weather was beautiful for the drive, and the time goes by much quicker with the one you love. The very first thing we did was initiatories in the Portland temple; it was my first time since going through for myself. I loved it! I hope we can go back as often as we plan to.

After the temple, we visited an elderly woman I used to care for. We went to her home with honeymoon pictures and wedding stories to share, and left with arm-fulls of gifts and kisses on our cheeks. She was once a ballet teacher like myself, so Blair got to sit and listen to us jabber about ballet and my new teaching job and all her advice on how to teach the proper execution of a glissade. My husband's going to be a ballet expert pretty soon. ;)

The last thing we did on our Portland trip was visit my family at home. We weren't disappointed. The house was just as lively and full of laughter as we remembered. We ate good food, were entertained with some Halloween costume projects and ended the evening with fun conversation in the livingroom, (just like old times). My family doesn't like to let us leave empty-handed, so they decided to send us home with a truck-load of clothes and... stuff. Now the only problem is finding some storage space in our apartment to cram our souvenirs.

Grandma Whitaker

From Honeymoon
Rebecca and her family are at Grandma Whitaker's funeral today. We visited her together twice. Once at the hospital after the summer family reunion and again at her home at the end of our honeymoon. Her greetings and parting statements were always "life is good".
